i believe that every person holds incredible power

but few are able to recognize and access it fully

this is because most are in a state of overwhelming distraction

and are not aware of it and the stress and pain it causes

because it has become so habitual - so conditioned

we’re used to it - it is “normal”

we haven’t experienced life without it

this constant state of unease, nervousness, and discomfort

is like background noise

like a fan

we don’t notice it’s there

until we finally hear silence

and notice it has stopped

feeling incredible relief

and why is this underlying discomfort present?

it is because throughout the generations

people have began to identify more and more with the mind

and less with our true selves -

that which is behind the mind

our awareness

our consciousness

that which only knows love, joy, and peace

that which doesn’t judge

or resist

but accepts what is fully

because it is only concerned with the present moment

we’ve forgotten, as a species, that the mind is but a tool

our thoughts and our emotions are merely senses

just like our sight, touch, or hearing

but we’ve allowed our minds have become our masters

we identify with our actions, labels, and appearances

we identify with our thoughts and emotions

and so when a situation arises that conflicts with some aspect of our identity

we either experience pain or fear

again, perhaps many are unaware that this is their default state of being

but when we encounter a challenge or problem

this subtle pain intensifies

and it is now quite obvious that we are unhappy and suffering

when faced with a challenge

we can react automatically out of fear

and either resist or deny what is happening

we reach for something external

to reaffirm our identities

or numb the hurt

we distract ourselves from the real problem

the problem being that we will never be free from pain

if we cling to a notion of how things “should be”

our minds create an identity

either with stories of the past

or dreams of the future

and if experience a situation that doesn’t align with our stories or dreams

we suffer

because we try to resist or deny that it is happening

and this resistance or denial

by using distraction or blindness

makes us more asleep with each incident

alternatively, we can use life’s challenges

as an opportunity to respond, if we must respond

out of a place of peace and understanding

we can use that challenge

to question all we are and all we know

deconstruct our attachments to our identities

to become more awake every time

so when things are going relatively smoothly

when we’re not facing any overwhelming challenges

use this time to become the observer

pay attention to how the external world

and your internal world - thoughts and feelings

distract you

and become clear

recognize that you are nothing but the labels your mind has given you

that you are not comprised of “good things” or “bad things”

you simply are as you are in this very moment

you are simply a consciousness having a human experience

you are simply aware of things happening

aware that you are living

aware of being

and once you get to that state of awareness

you are sitting at the very core of your being

and this state is called presence

you are not placing conditions on your happiness

by attaching to a past or future

you are here and now

and there is only perfection in that

once you have found this presence

you can make it your goal to live in this space predominantly

returning to living in this current society of distraction

but choose to not allow the noise to cover up your truth

return to your identity, without attaching to the stories of your past

have dreams and goals and desires, but do not attach to outcomes

because nothing is promised

except this very moment

that is how you step into your power

by knowing that nothing can truly harm you

if you live with clarity in the present moment

where the mind is a beautiful instrument of creativity and logic

not a rigid set of rules to be contained by
