the void

I went to this exhibit called “infinite space” by artist Refik Anadol. It was pretty incredible. Here’s a link: https://www.dc.artechouse.com/infinite-space
Anyways, the concept of “infinite space” is something I’ve been playing around with a lot recently.
What is space? We call a room a space. A room is not the objects in the room - it’s the container. But it’s also not the walls, floor or ceiling. We can only know about space, or describe space, by describing what it’s not. This is the same principle with consciousness. We can only know about our consciousness, as humans, by describing it with the thoughts that surround it. If in meditation, or if we simply “zone out” for a few seconds, we experience a period of “nothingness” or “pure consciousness”, that is, no perception of thought, feeling, or form, we only know we experienced nothing by labeling it as “nothing” by comparing the space to the thoughts or sensations on either side of it.
We can see this during sleep as well. When we sleep, our bodies (form) are still functioning. We are actually fully conscious when we are asleep, but unless we are dreaming, we are only consciousness - there is no form to perceive. But we know that we fell asleep by comparing it to the “being awake” on either side.
Space is the void. It's the container for energy. Energy could not exist without space to occupy (try fitting an elephant in a microwave - not enough space for the form), and space could not exist without energy to compare it to.
This journal entry is pretty far out - but it is about space haha.
[^ here's a video I took of part of the "infinite space" exhibit. (Sorry you'll have to flip your screen - the video should be horizontal) And this wasn't even the coolest part! I just didn't want to have my phone out the whole time. I 100p recommend checking this guy out if you ever have the chance. ]
Anyways...
Many people feel enslaved to their life circumstances, bodies, thoughts, emotions, and responsibilities. I know I once was. We build our own walls with the mind. However, the same “you” that creates the walls has the power to destroy them. The walls that once kept you safe are now limiting you - break free! Through removing distractions, I discovered space, and through that space, discovered freedom. But this is another topic for another time ;)
Space is great. As we expand our awareness, we realize more and more space in our minds, in our time, and in our abilities; Because we realize we none of those things really exist, except for how we perceive them to be. You create your own reality!! I’m sure you’ve heard that line before - it’s so true.
But this is all still perception. Everything that exists, only exists, because we want it to.
So, nothing is real? But at the same time completely real?
All these experiences we have as human beings are only through the senses. We only experience the energy waves that make up our bodies, thoughts, relationships, environments, and events because we have sensory organs, made up of more energy waves, that pick up on this “external” energy and transmute it to a kind of energy our brain, which is energy, can understand and cause a thought, which is also just more energy.
Sounds super meta and trippy right? Well this is science, look it up.
The seemingly solid objects all around you, even your body and brain are not really solid. They seem solid, but it’s actually just space - space with frequencies vibrating within it. Different frequencies cause atoms to arrange in different patterns which constitute the different forms and functions of the objects and happenings we experience. Atoms have hella space in between them - and are bound together by energy, just space. And even in the atom itself, is just space. A nucleus with electrons in orbit. The nucleus (which is still a lot of space, because there’s still protons and neutrons inside it) is, to scale, the size of a football stadium, where the atom is earth. Or a nucleus is a pea in the middle of a football stadium (the atom). So small. Scientists don’t know what the lining of these structures are, so they just call them “quarks” and those quarks are what constitute the 0.00000001% of the calculation that the universe is 99.9999999% empty space. So it is possible that perhaps that last tiny bit of “matter” is actually just more space.
Who knows? No one. And it really doesn’t matter. (hahaaa no pun intended)
Earth is a strange place my dudes. But it’s also the most normal thing - because it’s all we’ve ever known.
I’m content here. I’m not in some existential crisis panicking for answers, but as my mind becomes increasingly clear, I become increasingly curious.
Ultimately, we can know nothing for certain.
All is just theory, speculation, and deduction.
The brightest minds are still mind; Form trying to describe itself.
Everything we can know about existence can only be inferred in reference to existence itself; We can only know about reality by principles of this reality.
But since we are here (even though scientifically, we are just space floating in space), and we are having an experience of being here in this moment, we must fully embrace this experience. It’s all we have. This very second.
Elon Musk believes that the probability of “this” being base reality is 1 in a billion. In other words, there’s some other reality that created our reality. He believes that humans must merge with machines to survive. Maybe we are in a simulation. Maybe this is the matrix. String theory? Heaven or hell. A certain region’s creation. Or a huge cosmic joke.
Literally no one can know. And we must find peace in that not knowing.
At it’s very essence, we can speculate that the fabric of this reality is an interweaving of consciousness and energy. How lucky are humans to have a brain that is capable of logical and emotional reasoning, so that our consciousness can experience form through this body?? So rad!
The more we evolve, the more humans have influence over form. A monkey doesn’t have as much control as a human - and a fish or a single celled organism definitely does not. We have so much potential. Look at all the technology we’ve created. We are creating our reality through our evolution, through our minds, to manipulate form (energy). So crazy.
The bummer is that a lot of humans aren’t aware of their power. Energy is infinite potential and consciousness is awareness. One cannot exist without the other. Reality is space (the unmanifest; consciousness) with energy (manifest, form) floating around.
We are floating in the void - space floating in infinite space.
But there is order to this energy - why life has patterns, and we are able to make sense of our existence.
How incredible would it be if humans were able to raise their consciousness in order to realize their potential?
The problem our planet is facing, is that there’s a lot of energy, but not a lot of consciousness. the action is unconscious - so there is a lot of chaos (like war, violence, suffering, and environmental destruction).
I don’t know what the point or plan is for the human species, but we’re killing ourselves here. The planet is dying due to unconscious action (or maybe the sun will eat earth, or we’ll get hit with a giant asteroid). So, either the planet is obliterated, we’ll reach extinction due to unconscious self-inflected harmful actions, or we’ll wake up and fix things while we can.
In any event, that’s the future. We don’t and can’t know how or when – energy is infinite potential; infinite possibility. We can only focus on the now.
So, I’m tuning into the microcosm that is being a human being. Spreading the love. Because although if you zoom far out or far in - there is seemingly no point and nothing is real - We are having a very real experience right here right now. And who are our existential minds to deny that or crave more answers? This could be all there is.
It’s fun to dive into the unknown, but I believe it’s most important to focusing on the step you’re on instead of trying to figure out why you’re climbing up a staircase in the first place.
So, get curious! But stay present. Do things that make you feel alive! Gain clarity. Live with intention. Master this mind and body. Be efficient, mindful, and diligent. Spread the love, kindness, and acceptance that this world so desperately cries for.
From what I can understand, humanity doesn’t need an answer to why there is separation. They just need the unity.
And hey I know nothing either. This is just my journal. All words are just language and opinion. there are no facts, just patterns.
peace out!
